Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day! We had a really fun weekend staying home and exploring some of the local attractions. We were blessed with lovely, warm weather. Nick did have to work on Saturday and Sunday in the morning so Abigail and I spent time together. On Saturday we played outside and did some things around the house. Saturday night our neighbors had us over for a barbecue. I made a patriotic cake and it was so nice to be outside with friends. The kids had lots of fun playing too.

Sunday morning Bethany and I took Abigail and Bella to the local state park. The weather was great but a little hot. The park has a lake, cabins, camping, picnicking, a kids area, etc. We spent a few hours playing in the sand and in the lake. The girls had fun in the water and we hope to take them more often this summer.

Monday was our family day and we went to City Island. It is right outside of Harrisburg in between the west and east shores of the Susquehanna River. Nick and I have been there several times before for a date night and a Senators baseball game. They have mini-golf, a playground, a paddle boat ride, a small train that goes around the island, an arcade, batting cages, food, picnic tables, a minor league baseball park, and a walking bridge that leads to downtown Harrisburg. We decided to pack a lunch and found a nice park bench by the water under some shade. We then walked around the island and let Abigail play in the park. After that we walked on the bridge over the water. It was very hot and we decided it was time to get out of the sun after about 1 1/2 hours. It was very nice and Abigail had a ball! After Nick left for work on Monday night we went to Bella's house to play in her baby pool.

The weather was wonderful for playing in the lake.

This is my favorite picture.

If you look closely in the upper right hand corner of this picture you can see the bridge we walked on.

The girls had fun getting each other wet.
