On the last Friday of August Grandma Ohneck, Abigail and I took a day trip to Cape May, NJ. The weather was absolutely perfect! The sky was blue, the water was warm, and the temperature was in the high 70s. We left early and stopped by a fruit and veggie stand after we got into Jersey. We bought corn, tomatoes, peaches, watermelon, etc. Once we arrived in Cape May we had brunch at a pancake house right along the water front. Abigail did not know where we were going until we got there. She was able to see the beach from the restaurant and got soooo excited! After our delicious breakfast, we drove to the Cape May outdoor mall to do a little shopping. Abigail played in a fountain while my mom bought a few birthday gifts. We then got Abigail her first Cape May t-shirt. Then it was time to head to the beach. There were lots of people enjoying the wonderful weather. Abigail played in the sand and stood in the ocean. She was not sure about the waves at first but quickly began to love them! After a few hours on the beach I was ready to get some food. We drove over to the Lobster House and ordered from their take-out menu. The wait was very long and I knew that would not work with a 2 year old! I just could not go to Cape May without getting my lobster from the Lobster House. We picked up the food and took it to another favorite restaurant just around the corner. We sat outside at a table and also got ice cream. After that we visited a monument and got some more pictures before we left to head home. I did not want to get on the road till 8pm, which is Abigail's bedtime. It was a lovely day!!
We took a picture at the same place we did the last time we visited Cape May.
This picture is from October of 2008. She was not even one yet!
At the Cape May mall doing some shopping.
She really enjoyed throwing pennies into the fountain.
Walking in the sand for the first time.
I don't know if I have ever seen so many beach umbrellas in one place!
Abigail was a little unsure about the waves.
Of course she loves them now! This was only her second time in the ocean.
This picture was also taken in October of 2008. This was the first time her feet touched the Atlantic Ocean!
